Important Information to Customers and Users

From 6am on Sunday 28th February, Auckland  moved to Alert Level 3 (L3) and the rest of New Zealand moved to Alert Level 2 (L2). Port Marlborough has moved all its operational protocols in line with L2 requirements. Please note the following.

Golden Rules

During L2 most businesses can open their premises or sites if they can do so safely. Recreational boating is permitted under L2 and Marlborough Sounds Marinas continues to open all marina facilities. The government advises that L2 is not entirely business as usual and there are some restrictions and other measures that will need to be in place to reduce the risk of transmission.

Here are the Government’s golden rules for business in L2:

  • Do everything you can to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission at work — we all have a part to play in keeping each other safe.
  • COVID-19 is out there. Play it safe.
  • All businesses can operate if they can do so safely. Alternative ways of working are still encouraged where possible.
  • Talk with your workers to identify risks and ways to manage them.
  • Ask everyone, workers, contractors and customers, with cold or flu-like symptoms to stay away from your premises.
  • Keep groups of customers at least 1 metre apart.
  • Keep contact-tracing records of anyone who will have close interaction (workers, contractors or customers).
  • Reduce the number of shared surfaces, and regularly disinfect them.
  • Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands.

Marinas

Recreational boating is a permitted activity under L2. Marlborough Sounds Marinas facilities are open.

We have developed the following guidelines to keep everyone safe in the marinas:

  • If you’re unwell, stay home, and please don’t come into the marinas.
  • Keep a 2 metre space between yourself and anyone from outside your bubble.
  • Sanitise your hands upon entering any jetties, or prior to using any marina equipment. Hand sanitiser is provided at the entrance of each facility including all jetties, ablution facilities and pay & display machines. Please ensure you use it.
  • Prior to coming into the marina, please log your visit on our website. This register will only be used to assist in the event contact tracing is required.
  • If you require work to be undertaken on your boat by a contractor in the marina or Waikawa hardstand, please note that work can only be undertaken by Marlborough Sounds Marinas registered contractors, who have a Covid-19 safe work plan in place. A list of approved contractors is on our website.

Please also note the following:

  • All jetties with security gates will remain closed 24/7 and accessible by card only
  • Use jetty fingers if required to enable physical distancing on the main jetty walkway.
  • Only one customer group will be permitted in the Marina customer Service centres at a time.
  • If ablution facilities are in use, please wait outside to maintain physical distancing
  • Marina staff will be sanitising communal areas multiple times per day (Gates, handrails etc) however please use your own, or the provided hand sanitiser frequently.
