Want to learn more about the Waitohi Picton Ferry Precinct Redevelopment? Enabling works for the Waitohi Ferry Precinct Ferry Redevelopment are set to get underway in June / July 2022. The project team will be in the community to answer any questions you may have before we move into the next stage of this once-in-a-generation project. If you want to learn more about the Waitohi Picton Ferry Precinct Redevelopment, come along to a drop-in session at the Picton Library on Thursday 28 or Friday 29 to talk with the project team and immerse yourself in the current concept design. In 2025 the first of two, brand-new, more sustainable Interislander ferries will arrive at our port. To accommodate the new ships, project partners KiwiRail NZ and Port Marlborough will work together with Te Ātiawa o te Waka ā Māui Trust, Waka Kotahi and Marlborough District Council, to recreate a ferry terminal precinct that provides a stronger inter-island connection for the future and celebrates Marlborough as a place to visit and enjoy. “It’s really important for all of us working on this project to leave behind something that the community will be proud of for many years to come and preparing for the arrival of the new ferries has given us an opportunity to create something truly special,” says Senior Project Manager Harry Singh. Bring the whole family along and experience the interactive digital walk-through of the new ferry precinct. You can check out the new terminal building, wharves, waterfront area and Dublin Street Overbridge while the children colour in a picture of the new ships. You’ll also have the opportunity to talk to the people in charge of the project for Waitohi Picton.
